S.A.D.D. Shows Effects of Drunk Driving
by Jonathan Morris and Sarah Dreisbach

Before the senior class went off to their prom, the S.A.D.D. program gave them some vivid reminders of the importance of making good choices.

On April 15, 2005, Students Against Destructive Decisions (S.A.D.D.), headed by Ms. Janine Rix, sponsored several activities for seniors. The Levittown Fire Department brought a crashed car, which was displayed on the school's parking lot, to show the consequences of drinking and driving.

Every 30 minutes throughout the day, a student dressed as the grim reaper came into a senior class and pulled a student out. The student's face was painted white and he or she was not allowed to talk for the rest of the day. These "dead" students represent the statistic that every 30 minutes someone is killed as a result of drunk driving.

The senior class also participated in an assembly on Friday, the day before the prom, where they heard a guest speaker and were able to sign the Prom Promise.

The Nationwide Prom Promise reads "I promise not to use alcohol or other drugs. This is a promise I take seriously. It's one I intend to keep, for my sake and the sake of my friends and family."
